Should i get a metal or porcelain onlay?

I would try to stay with porcelain. An onlay should be cheaper than a crown... I live in high priced California and I would not personally pay more than $600. A porcelain CROWN averages from $700-$1350. I would suggest to ask the front desk or dental istant to give you the ADA code for the procedure recommended. IT might be even be on your paperwork/treatment plan. Then call other dental offices and give them that procedure code and ask for an estimate over the phone. Be sure to ask about other fees- like initial exam & xrays- so you can also factor that into your cost. I am leary about onlays myself since many offices perfer to crown the tooth.
