Will the police pay me back?

i was driving home the other night,having a quiet drink of scotch and talking to my girl friend on the phone,i did not see the cops but when he hit the siren it made me jump,i dropped the phone out of the window and dropped the scotch,i have to go to court soon should i ask for a new phone and another bottle in court or should i just ask the policeman after court.ps he seamed very understanding even though he yelled a bit.
