FWB question... Help me out guys?

So I have this guy who is my friend with benefits. We've been hooking for about 2 months now. He said that he wants to date me and be exclusive. I'm totally OK being exclusive, but I don't want a boyfriend right now (he's really cute but he's just not my type). The last week he has been really distant. When either of us wants we're quick to plan it out but he hasn't made himself available in the last week. When he needs I'm always willing. He's been pretty stressed at work so I don't know if that is causing the problem is. My question is, did I ruin everything because I didn't want to officially date him? Has he lost interest in me or what? I really don't want to lose his friendship.
