What happened to the Democrats promise to make Bush, Mr. Irrelevant when they took control over the Congress?

If the American voters had voted in more democratic congressmen/congresswomen, we probably would be able to see some serious political play by the democrats. I hope we all have learned our lesson and will give the democrats a filibuster proof senate, but the real problem hasn't been with the Senate but the House. There are not enough democrats to override a Bush veto and there are only a very a few Republicans who have been voting with Democrats. The Republicans are purposely giving the democrats a hard time so that the can take back control in 2008. But the American people are too smart for them.
